For Earth Day 2021, we organized a protest in front of the Minnesota State Capitol, co-hosted by 14 other activist groups (listed below). We drew attention to the war against the environment waged by the U.S. military, and the fact that this world's largest polluter is exempt from the Paris Climate Accords. Because issues of climate justice affect historically oppressed groups most severely, we recognize that there can be no climate justice without racial justice. While National Guard troops occupied the Twin Cities during the Chauvin trial and following the murder of Daunte Wright, the CJC and fellow grassroots activists stood up to demand that neither people nor the planet can be treated as disposable.
Emma Leigh Sron captured the entire event on video.
